What began as a simple question about roof colour sparked something bigger: could aging roofs be renewed instead of replaced? The exploration began.

In 2016, while quoting an exterior repainting project, our founder Carmelo Marsala, noticed something simple: homeowners loved their new siding colour — but their roof no longer matched. It was a small disconnect, but it revealed a much bigger problem.

Roof coatings already existed, but they resulted in a flat, visibly repainted finish that lacked long-term durability, and couldn’t replicate factory granule texture. If it was going to work, it had to look and perform like a new roof — a challenge that would launch nearly a decade of materials engineering.

During manufacturing, mineral granules are embedded into hot asphalt. That outer layer isn’t decorative — it’s what gives a roof its colour, UV protection, and durability. Covering it with a flat coating compromises both performance and appearance.

Engineering a fundamentally different way to protect and extend the life of aging roofs.
From consultation to completion, here’s how we restore and reinforce your existing shingles — without the cost or disruption of replacement.

Proving the concept meant inventing the process. Roofing granules are heavy, abrasive, and irregular—no existing pump could handle them. Custom equipment and reformulated chemistry made the first application possible.

A Liqua-Roofed home in Atlantic Canada became an unexpected benchmark. When Hurricane Fiona struck in 2022, neighboring roofs were damaged—the resurfaced roof remained intact, proving the system in real-world conditions.
With patents approved, chemistry stabilized, and application systems refined, Liqua-Roof transitioned from experimental breakthrough to repeatable engineered solution.

Standardized ASTM testing and UL certifications validated performance, adding third-party verification to years of field exposure.
After nearly a decade of development, Liqua-Roof officially entered the market — launching as a dedicated brand and expanding across North America.
